Jet Airways creditors to recover only $300-$400 million in liquidation scenario

Creditors of India's bankrupt Jet Airways are likely to recover less than 10% of the carrier's total outstanding dues in a liquidation scenario if no suitor succeeds in buying the airline, two sources told Reuters. The airline's financial and operational creditors, who are owed nearly 300 billion Indian rupees ($4.20 billion) are likely to recover only $300-$400 million from the sale of Jet's assets, the sources, who have direct knowledge of the matter, said. "The expected recovery on owned planes and real estate is $300-400 million after repaying debt tied specifically to those assets," said one of the sources. The sources, who asked not to be named as they have not been cleared to discuss the matter with media, said Jet currently has some four to six Boeing and Airbus aircraft, and some real estate assets in India, on which there are some outstanding dues. Bharat Electronics gains 2% after Morgan Stanley initiates coverage with 'overweight' call

Shares of Bharat Electronicsrallied 2 percent intraday on August 22 after global brokerage house Morgan Stanley initiated coverage with an overweight call on the stock. Gold steady, focus on Jackson Hole summit for rate-cut direction

Gold prices were little changed on Thursday, holding above the key $1,500 an ounce level, as investors awaited the Federal Reserve chair's speech at a global central bankers' conclave for clues on future U.S. interest rate cuts. Spot gold inched down 0.1% to $1,500.14 per ounce by 0426 GMT. U.S. gold futures were down 0.4% at $1,510.10 an ounce. "We are seeing a holding pattern until the remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell at the Jackson Hole symposium," OANDA analyst Jeffrey Halley said. If Powell says they are going to cut rates aggressively, that may not be great for gold in the short-term since equities will gain, Halley added. IndiGo, SpiceJet to shift Delhi operations to T3 from T2

Low-cost carriers SpiceJet and IndiGo would shift their operations to the Indira Gandhi International Airport's T3 from T2 from September 5. While SpiceJet would shift its entire operations, the largest private carrier IndiGo would move part of their local flights. With rising air traffic and a surge in flight movement from the IGI airport, private airport firm Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) is in the process of upgrading the T2 terminal. "Post completion of capacity enhancement of T2, the terminal will be able to handle 18 million passengers per annum (MPPA), up from current 15 MPPA (now)," DIAL said in a statement. Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of the airport firm, said that with Delhi airport witnessing a surge in passenger traffic, DIAL is enhancing the capacity of T2. NCLAT displeased with delay in IL&FS progress report

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Thursday expressed its displeasure over the crisis-hit IL&FS and the government's delay in filing the progress report on the resolution process of the group companies. "In spite of our order dated 12th July 2019 no 'Progress Report' has been filed by Union of India or IL&FS. They are allowed to file the 'Progress Report' by tomorrow (Friday)," said the NCLAT order. The bench headed by NCLAT Chairperson S.J. HCL Tech beats growth estimates, but profitability is a niggling worry

Shares of HCL Technologies Ltd lost about 10% since its March quarter results, underperforming the Nifty IT index, due to concerns over growth and profitability. The June quarter results will reassure investors to some extent. Constant currency revenues grew 4.2% from the March quarter, better than the most optimistic estimate on the Street. From a year ago, they are up 17%, the highest in recent years. Excluding the benefit of a recent acquisition, sequential revenue growth stood at 3.8%, which is healthy. However, the benefit of revenue acceleration was negated by a steep fall in profitability to 17.1%. It is down a good 1.8 percentage points from the March quarter.
