Exclusive: Brazil weighs offering coffee options to support prices - sources

The Brazilian government is considering offering put options to coffee producers as a way to shore up prices at a 13-year low and assure a minimum income for struggling farmers, two people with knowledge of the talks told Reuters on Thursday. The program, if approved, would give producers the right to sell their crops to the government at a fixed price, setting a floor for coffee prices in the world's largest coffee producer and exporter. That would likely force buyers to pay more for Brazilian coffee and encourage other coffee-growing countries to follow suit. Producers have been pressuring Brasilia to offer put options and rebuild government bean inventories that had been sold off earlier this decade. "We have talked to the government and they liked the idea," a director at a Brazilian coffee cooperative told Reuters. "It would be a win-win program. ग्रासिम इंडस्ट्रीज (Grasim Industries) को आयकर विभाग (Income Tax Deptt) ने 5,872.13 करोड़ रुपये का कर नोटिस भेजा है। यह नोटिस ग्रासिम को आदित्य बिड़ला नुवो और आदित्य बिड़ला फाइनेंशियल सर्विसेज के साथ इसके विलय के मामले में भेजा गया है। नोटिस में लाभांश वितरण कर और ब्याज सहित 5,872.13 करोड़ रुपये की माँग की गयी है। डिप्टी कमिश्नर ऑफ इनकम टैक्स (डीसीआइटी) द्वारा जारी किये गये आदेश में कहा है कि विलय योजना में अलग हुई कंपनी का डीमर्जर कानून की धारा 2(19 एए) के अनुरूप नहीं है। इसलिए कंपनी इकाई के आदित्य बिड़ला कैपिटल (एबीसी) में विलय के मद्देनजर एबीसी द्वारा ग्रासिम इंडस्ट्रीज के शेयरधारकों को आवंटित किये गये शेयरों के मूल्य को कानून के तहत लाभांश माना जायेगा। ग्रासिम के अनुसार यह आदेश कानून के तहत सही नहीं है। साथ ही कंपनी ने आदेश के खिलाफ जरूरी कदम उठाने की घोषणा की है। बीएसई में ग्रासिम इंडस्ट्रीज का शेयर 829.65 रुपये के पिछले बंद भाव के मुकाबले आज कमजोरी के साथ 816.00 रुपये पर खुल कर अभी तक के कारोबार में 806.35 रुपये के निचले स्तर तक गिरा है। करीब साढ़े 11 बजे यह 13.90 रुपये या ...

Expiry Week: Market seen consolidation; FII sells Rs 5781.98cr equity, IT index up over 3%

The foreign investors sold equities worth Rs 5781.98 crore. However, domestic institutions bought Rs 5972.69 crore worth of equities in last week. Indian indices seen a consolidation for the week ended February 23 amid no major cues from domestic as well as international markets. Equity benchmarks have been oscillating within last two weeks’ broad range of 10600-10300, indicating consolidation after the recent sharp decline of 8%. The index rebounded from the oversold territory and is under the process of forming base near the lower band of broader consolidation range around 10300. Idea Cellular raises Rs 3,500 crore via QIP

The company has issued and allotted about 42.42 crore equity shares to qualified institutional buyers at an issue price of Rs 82.50 per equity share (including a premium of Rs 72.50 a share), amounting to about Rs 3,500 crore. Mobile operator Idea Cellular today said it has successfully closed a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) to raise Rs 3,500 crore. The company has issued and allotted about 42.42 crore equity shares to qualified institutional buyers at an issue price of Rs 82.50 per equity share (including a premium of Rs 72.50 a share), amounting to about Rs 3,500 crore. "The issue witnessed interest from a global investor base. The issue allocation is approximately 56 per cent and 44 per cent to Indian and foreign investors respectively," the company said in a statement here. Asia stocks slip as US rate risk lifts bond yields

Japan's Nikkei shed 1 percent even as the yen gave back some of its recent gains on the dollar. Asian shares slipped on Thursday as the risk of faster hikes in U.S interest rates lifted short-term Treasury yields to the highest in almost a decade and boosted the dollar. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan eased 0.35 percent in early trade, while E-Mini futures for the S&P 500 lost 0.2 percent. Japan's Nikkei shed 1 percent even as the yen gave back some of its recent gains on the dollar. On Wall Street the Dow had ended Wednesday down 0.67 percent, while the S&P 500 fell 0.55 percent and the Nasdaq 0.22 percent.
