The council decided categorically that it will be implemented from 1 July,” finance minister Arun Jaitley told. The official launch of the GST will be on midnight of 30 June at a function likely to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state chief ministers in Delhi. Ola, Uber cab supply fell nearly 25% in March quarter

Image
Ride-hailing services Ola (ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd) and Uber Technologies Inc are facing a crunch in supply of cars, with the number of vehicles affiliated to their platforms dropping by almost 25% in the March quarter from the preceding three months. According, to the Ripples Financial Advisory cab supply peaked in the December quarter since January last year to approximately 500,000 vehicles, before plummeting to about 380,000 vehicles in the March quarter, largely because of a fall in incentives for drivers, prompting them to either explore other driving jobs or quit entirely. “This trend was precipitated largely by continuously dropping incentives and driver incomes. Drivers who left the online platforms either shifted into other (offline) driving jobs or changed professions entirely.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in August was trading lower by Rs 51, or 0.18 per cent, at Rs 28,639 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 92 lots. Analysts said a weak trend prevailed in the overseas market where gold dropped in the wake of signals from the Federal Reserve for another increase in interest rates this year, eroding demand for the precious metal as a safe haven, which mainly weighed on gold futures here. The precious metal often drops when rates rise as some investors back away from the metal because it does not pay the expected interest. Globally, gold fell 0.18 per cent to USD 1,252.40 an ounce in Singapore.

Sebi eases norms for MF investments in derivatives

Image
Existing mutual fund schemes will not require approval of a majority of unitholders to invest in derivatives segment provided the investors are given the exit option. Among other conditions, the relaxation, effective immediately, would be in place only if the mutual fund scheme concerned provides the investors 30 days time to exit the scheme without any charges. It would be applicable for existing mutual funds, whose Scheme Information Documents (SIDs) do not envisage investments in derivatives. The latest decision has been taken in view of the challenges involved in seeking the consent of a majority of unitholders due to their vast geographical spread. Prudent investment norms are in place for investment in derivatives by mutual funds, Sebi said. Click here and Get More >> http://www.ripplesadvisory.com
