Podcast | Stock picks of the day: Bank Nifty could move towards 31,000-31,200 levels

Image
We expect the current market momentum to carry forward, which could lift the Nifty towards the 11,700-11,720 levels. It was 'bull's day out' on July 11 as Nifty staged a smart comeback amid all-round buying momentum in scrips across sectors. The Nifty found support around its 100-DMA of 11,450 and then bounced back. The index also created higher lows for the third consecutive day, which is another positive development. Going forward, we expect the current market momentum to carry forward, which could lift the Nifty towards the 117,00-11,720 zone, also its 50-DMA resistance. The Bank Nifty found support around its 50-DMA, which stood at 30,600. The index has managed to hold above the rising trendline support zone of 30,400, which indicates that the higher top-higher bottom structure continues to remain intact. Going forward, the Bank Nifty has the potential of moving higher towards 31,000-31,200 in the near term. Support is seen around the 30,400 ma...

Gold firm as risk sentiment takes backseat; strong dollar caps gains

Image
Gold prices steadied on Thursday as lacklustre appetite for riskier assets offered some support to the safe-haven metal, while firm dollar limited gains ahead of European Central Bank's (ECB) policy meeting due later in the day. Spot gold was steady at $1,286.49 per ounce, as of 0341 GMT. U.S. gold futures were down 0.1 percent at $1,287. The dollar index, which tracks the greenback against major currencies, was holding near its more than two-week high posted earlier in the week. "There is some support for safe haven assets. Equities in Asia have given up the gains and that reflects the pressure we are seeing on risk assets," said Michael McCarthy, chief market strategist at CMC Markets, adding, strong dollar is limiting gains. Asian shares eased on Thursday, with caution prevailing as investors awaited some kind of resolution to Sino-U.S. trade negotiations. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that trade talks with China were movin...

Recent negative developments in Indian banking sector has put pressure on the rupee. The USD-INR is expected to trade in a range of 64.75-65.05 for the day, says Mohan Shenoi of Kotak Mahindra Bank. The Indian rupee declined in the early trade on Thursday. It has opened lower by 29 paise at 65.05 per dollar versus 64.76 Wednesday. Mohan Shenoi of Kotak Mahindra Bank said, "US FOMC minutes caused market volatility with US treasury yields touching a new high, US stock markets reversing early gains and dollar strengthening further." "Recent negative developments in Indian banking sector has put pressure on the rupee. The USD-INR is expected to trade in a range of 64.75-65.05 for the day." "RBI MPC minutes for February highlighted upside risk to inflation due to rising crude prices, MSP increases, fiscal slippage and Pay Commission implementation." Facebook Inc (FB) Stock Is Not the One You Should

Image
FREE STOCK TIPS | INDIAN STOCK MARKET CALL ON 9644405056 There’s a bit of unease in the stock market at the moment. Volatility has rebounded from historic lows. And large-cap tech stocks like Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB) have pulled back — albeit modestly — from all-time highs reached after a huge run over the first seven months of 2017. Facebook stock has pulled back 5% over the past few weeks after FB stock hit an all-time high of $175 in late July. Admittedly, there’s room for worry. The U.S. economy is growing, but hardly at a spectacular pace. By several measures, valuations in the broad market are at the highest levels since 2007 — right before the financial crisis. And U.S. equities haven’t had any real sort of real pullback since February 2016. But as far as Facebook stock goes, there’s no need for panic or even concern. FB stock remains the only social media stock that matters. Any market pullback that brings the Facebook stock down only creates an opportuni...
