3-step guide to construct a pro-volatility option portfolio for bargain hunting

Image
Such are the times where conventional wisdom says that we should now start nibbling in the beaten-down names. More often than not, we eye good stock which is well-capitalized, big-sized, and most probably an index constituent. Bargain hunting has always been attracting all of us, but if we apply that in the equity markets, it leads to disastrous outcomes at times. Market set-ups, like the one which we are in right now, often show a price which is over-pessimistic. Such are the times where conventional wisdom says that we should now start nibbling in the beaten-down names. More often than not, we eye good stock which is well-capitalized, big-sized, and most probably an index constituent. This argument now brings us to the options arena. Step 1: Limit the downside risk ...

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India, with 0.56 percent loss or 61 points. Nifty futures were trading around 10,890-level on the Singaporean Exchange. The Nifty50 is seen opening with a gap on the higher side on Monday, but lingering concerns of US-China trade war might cap the upside. Asian markets were trading Wall Street nosedived on Friday, and Asian markets were trading mixed after US President Donald Trump announced a 5 percent additional duty on $550 billion in targeted Chinese goods, hours after China unveiled retaliatory tariffs on $75 billion worth of U.S. products. On Friday, the US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said the central bank would “act as appropriate” to keep the U.S. economy healthy in a deteriorating global economy, but stopped short of committing to rapid-fire rate cuts and drew fire from President Donald Trump, said a Reuters report. Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening f...

Nickel, the commodity used for making alloys, has gained more than 45 percent at the benchmark London Metal Exchange (LME) since the start of 2019. Unexpected large-scale buying by Chinese companies and supply threat from the top producer, Indonesia, aided sentiment. Surprise or disappointment in Q1: Here's how top companies have performed this week

Image
Experts say that there is a possibility double-digit earnings growth could be seen after the September quarter. We are in the middle of earnings season and top companies have already announced their June quarter numbers. FMCG majors including ITC reported profit growth while Britannia Industries reported a marginally fall in profit. With the auto sector in a slump, Mahindra & Mahindra posted a 29 percent year-on-year (YoY) drop due to weak demand across segments. "Unless there is revival happening there would not be any pick up in corporate profitability and earnings. A combination of fiscal measures and monetary measures are required to achieve this," said Joseph Thomas, Head of Research at Emkay Wealth Management. The June quarter is likely to mimic the March quarter with financials leading the growth while consumer discretionary, consumer staples, industrials, material, and real estate could post declining trend sequentially in the top-line growth....
