JaiprakashAssociates posts Q1 net loss of Rs 158.83 cr

The company reported standalone net loss during the quarter stood at Rs 158.83 crore as compared to a net loss of Rs 285.02 crore in the previous year quarter. 




Net revenue of the company declined substantially by 29.04 percent at Rs 1,199.88 crore in the April-June quarter of this fiscal as against Rs 1,690.82 crore in the corresponding period last year. 

During the April-June quarter, operating expenses dropped by 24.12 percent to Rs 1,141.56 crore from Rs 1,504.36 crore in the year ago period. Other Income grew by 654.28 percent at Rs 72.26 crore versus (Jun'18 Rs 9.58 crore).

Operating profit slipped by 68.72 percent to Rs 58.32 crore as against Rs 186.46 crore in the year-ago period, while Operating Profit Margin (OPM) contracted year-on-year to 55.94 percent in June quarter. Interest declined by 1.31 percent y-o-y to Rs 188.00 crore.

The Sensex was down 11 per cent in September 2008, 5.4 per cent in 2018 and dropped by 2.1 per cent in the same month in 2011, data from AceEquity shows. Indian markets remained in a bear grip in August and the trend is unlikely to shift towards the bulls with no big triggers expected in September, say experts. The month of September is off to a muted start, with both the Sensex and the Nifty trading below crucial support levels. The Sensex broke below 37,000 and the Nifty 11,000. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the index has given flat to negative returns in September in six of the last 11 years. Oil prices mixed; Brent eases as trade tensions weigh

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 15 cents, or 0.2 percent, at $68.84 a barrel by 0309 GMT. WTI fell 1.3 percent on Friday. Oil prices were mixed on Monday with U.S. benchmark WTI nudging higher after four weeks of declines, while Brent began the week lower as the fallout from trade tensions weighed on markets. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 15 cents, or 0.2 percent, at $68.84 a barrel by 0309 GMT. WTI fell 1.3 percent on Friday. Brent crude futures fell 5 cents to $74.24 a barrel, after notching up a 1.7 percent weekly increase last week, the first gain in four weeks.
