Asia Markets Mostly Higher; Nikkei up 0.8%, Kospi up 0.3%

Asia markets opened higher on Thursday, led by advances in the energy sector, after overnight gains in oil prices pushed US stocks higher. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 traded up 0.75 percent, while across the Korean Strait, the Kospi was higher by 0.34 percent. Down Under, the S&P/ASX 200 gave up most of its nearly 0.4 percent gains to trade flat.  Oil prices gained in the US session after US government data showed a larger-than-expected drop in crude inventories.  Reuters reported the U.S. Energy Information Administration said crude inventories fell 4.2 million barrels in the week to May 20. Wall Street rose robustly for a second straight session on Wednesday, helped by higher oil prices and investors becoming more comfortable with the prospect of an interest rate hike as early as next month.  Combining Tuesday and Wednesday's performances, the S&P 500 gained 2 percent, its strongest two-day run since early March. Jeera prices closed lower by 1.56 % on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) on account of a surge in the supply from the producing regions in the midst of a decline in the export demand. At the NCDEX, jeera futures for June 2016 contract closed at Rs. 16,105 % quintal, down by 1.56 %, after opening at Rs. 16,370 against the previous closing price of Rs. 16,360. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 16,050. Global output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT per year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year. India exports Jeera mainly to the US, UK, UAE, Japan, Brazil, Bangladesh, Singapore and many other countries. Other Major exporters are Syria and Turkey. स्मार्ट सिटीज स्कीम में फास्ट ट्रैक कंपीटीशन में यूपी और झारखंड जैसे राज्यों के शहरों ने बाजी मारी है। शहरी विकास मंत्री वेंकैया नायडू ने फास्ट ट्रैक स्मार्ट सिटी के लिए चुने गए 13 शहरों की घोषणा की। इस लिस्ट में लखनऊ सबसे ऊपर रहा। और, किन शहरों ने स्मार्टनेस दिखाई, बता रही हैं हमारी संवाददाता दिपाली नंदा। फास्ट ट्रैक स्मार्ट सिटी की दावेदारी 23 शहरों ने की थी लेकिन इनमें से 13 शहर ही क्वालिफाई कर पाए। ये शहर हैं - लखनऊ, वारंगल, चंडीगढ़, रायपुर, भागलपुर, इंफाल, पोर्ट ब्लेयर, पणजी, रांची, अगरतला, धर्मशाला, न्यू टाउन कोलकाता और फरीदाबाद। पहले चुने गए 20 शहरों और नए 13 शहरों को स्मार्ट बनाने पर 80000 करोड़ रुपये से ज्यादा का निवेश किया जाएगा। शहरी विकास मंत्री ने इस मौके पर बताया कि 7 उन शहरों को भी मौका दिया जाएगा, जो अलग-अलग वजहों से इस योजना में हिस्सा नहीं ले सके हैं। ये शहर हैं - शिमला, पटना, नया रायपुर, ईटानगर, अमरावती, बैंगलोर और तिरुवनंतपुरम। इन 13 शहरों के चुनाव के बाद स्मार्ट सिटी मिशन में 25 राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों को जगह मिल गई है। For More Information ...

NCDEX Chana Market Update

Chana prices closed higher 2.24 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the traders enlarged their holdings in the commodity on account of the good demand in the market.    At the NCDEX , chana futures for June 2016 contract closed at Rs. 6,083 per quintal, up by 2.24 per cent, after opening at Rs. 5,978 against the previous closing price of Rs. 5,950. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 6,114. Moreover, the restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical market due to lower estimated output also influenced the chana prices. Gold slipped to a seven-week low on Wednesday as expectations of an early interest rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve pushed the dollar to a near two-month high.   Spot gold was little changed at $1,226.41 per ounce by 0033 GMT. The metal fell to $1,223 earlier in the session, the lowest since April 7. U.S. gold futures  dipped 0.2 % to $1,226.80.
